Sphynx are as different in personality as they are in looks. They can be described as extremely confident, curious and intelligent, acrobatic, but you will be rewarded with endless love, loyalty and attention.

They will involve themselves with whatever you are doing, be it surfing the net, watching the TV, washing the dishes or having a bath, forget trying to do anything on your own again! They love to be around humans and other sphynx, but will also enjoy the company of other cats and dogs.

Sphynx are housecats and MUST NEVER be allowed outside without supervision .They would not survive out doors on there own!

Some people who suffer from cat allergies can tolerate living with Sphynx cats. However, depending on the type and severity of the individual's allergic reactions, there are still a few people who cannot live with this breed.

Sphynx do need special grooming to keep them looking and feeling their best. Because of the lack of fur the natural oil secretion is not absorbed they will groom themselves but will need bathing once a fortnight or so to stop the build up (fake tan like) markings on your furniture. Also giving them a wipe over their faces to keep the eyes clean and to use a cotton bud carefully to remove wax.

Also the Claws of a Sphynx will have a build up of waxy film, this can be easily cleaned off with baby wipes, sensitive ones. Trim claws once a week to a fortnight, just the tips, watch out for the red vein and don’t cut too close to it. Trimming claws regularly and always providing a scratching post or furniture will help keep them short too!

Sphynx are not delicate but they do require extra heat.  An ordinary cat bed with a blanket that they can wrap up in is perfect or a bed next to a heat source during the winter will suit them. They will also steal space in your bed.

Because of the lack of hair the sphynx body has to work harder to keep themselves warm, this creates a higher metabolism. Which in turn Sphynx will eat more often then regular cats. Sphynx are not normally fussy eaters and as long as it is very good quality food,  you will have a happy contented cat. There are many options from raw to breeder quality food, we are happy to help you choose.

All our kittens new familys will be offered all the advice and help I can give. Demonstrations and info on how best to care for your new addition will be given before they leave, should they need it and lifetime support.
